This is always my answer when folks ask how to save on prescriptions!!  Check out GoodRx where you can get up to 80% off prescription medications.  It’s completely free so why not try.

This is a go-to app for me that lives permanently on my phone.  I can compare prices and get FREE coupons to help, plus they’ll send a FREE discount card that can be used at almost any U.S. Pharmacy.

A few extra tips:

  • Even if you have insurance, if the price seems really high ask the pharmacy to see if the rate for GoodRx will be lower.  Many times they beat my insurance price on medications.
  • You can also get the GoodRx price on pet medications!!  Rather than grabbing meds at the vet, ask them to write a prescription.  Now fill it at your normal pharmacy and they will apply the GoodRx rate when you show your card.
  • When you are meeting with the doctor have the GoodRx app open and search for the medication they are thinking of.  You’ll be able to share with the doctor the price and see if there are cheaper options that would do the same job.  (We even do this with telehealth visits).

Go ahead and see which pharmacy has the lowest prices on your prescription drug by typing in your drug name and location.
